Remember Annabella? She's grown a lot since I last worked with her, but she's still as adorable as ever! We usually schedule 1st year sessions outdoors, but sweet little Isabella is a little too sweet for that - the mosquitos like to eat her up! So we moved her session indoors, and captured some precious images for mom and dad. This age is hard to photograph in-studio, because they are becoming more and more mobile, which can be a challenge when you need to keep them in front of a backdrop. But a few tricks help hold little munchkins still every time without fail, like pretty beads and a basket to contain them...and of course the ever popular sunglasses! I knew when I arrived at our location and saw this family that we were going to have a great session. Mom did an awesome job coordinating their clothing by mixing and matching for a fun look, and it really blended well with our urban location. We had to fight for the little one's attention with quite a few things - rocks, a string of lantern lights on a fence, even a musician who set up on a nearby bench to play saxophone. But as I always say, determination and patience will yield you great results every time! About two weeks later, little Emmie made an early debut into the world. From the beginning Mom had been super involved with session planning - she ordered a newborn tutu from Etsy.com, and we made plans for a Christmas setup as well as incorporating the baby skis that Mom first learned to ski on. Liliana's mother contacted me when she was already 10 days old (the time frame we like to shoot newborns in) so she was a little older than the typical newborn I photograph, clocking in at over two weeks old by the time we met. Even though some of the typical "posed baby" shots are harder to achieve at an older age, it's certainly still possible to capture beautiful memories! We were even able to capture Mom and Dad's love of water with some lakefront creations, which have easily become some of my favorite outdoor captures to date.

Meet Hudson, the little guy that was what my good friend would call a "touch-me-not" baby. One little adjustment to his posing and he let me know that he didn't wish to be disturbed, but with patience we captured some adorable shots. Dad moved to the states on a tennis scholarship when he was younger, so it was natural that we incorporate tennis into the session somehow. Both mom and dad were a great help, prepping the next setup for me while I was shooting. The "tennis basket" was a vintage crib that had been refurbished beautifully, and the paisley fabric was actually a bench from Mom and Dad's bedroom. So sweet!

Melissa and George welcomed sweet baby Grey earlier this month. Mom was prepared with some adorable Etsy finds, including a precious tiny black bow headband. This little girl was a great sleeper, and in addition to the typical newborn images we were able to capture some lifestyle images in her beautiful nursery. Miss Taylor made her big debut right on time, with an adorable button nose and a head full of dark hair. Meet tiny miss Amelia...born several weeks early, she had to spend some time in the NICU, so her session had to wait a bit. She was such a vocal little baby, letting me know immediately if she didn't want to be bothered! But by the end of the session she was down for the count and completely zonked out.

Mom ordered the pink aviator knit hat from Etsy just for Amelia's session - an "Amelia Earhart" hat! We also used some of their home accents, as well as their wood floors, for some of her images. The multicolor blanket in the first shot was made by her grandmother - beautiful!

This is Brooklyn...her mother got so many awesome goodies for her session to use in addition to my props/hats/etc that I bring with me to every session - I love when parents come prepared! They also expressed interest in recreating a shot they had of their son when he was a newborn, of daddy holding him in his suit and tie - an image that hangs in Dad's office. Meet Amanda! She's only 14 but already is absolutely gorgeous and sure to turn a few boy's heads at school. Her mother booked a session for her while I was on vacation on West Virginia, and we were able to use some amazing little spots up in the mountains despite the harsh sun of mid-day.

I also styled Amanda before her session. We had a great time going over outfit options and accessories while I created her finished look with hair and makeup. Meet miss priss Annabella. Her mommy found me all the way from Darlington, South Carolina. But I don't mind because I love travel and I love a chance to cuddle a squishy newborn. She was such a sweet baby, but absolutely did not like being fiddled with after she fell asleep! After a milk-induced coma and the heater on full blast, we managed to satisfy her and got some beautiful shots. I wanted to take her nursery home with me - it was decorated in zebra, hot pink, and black and white. Mom brought down a huge stuffed zebra from her room and we played around with that for a cute little shot. Headbands provided by the wonderful Cream Puff Co (www.etsy.com/shop/creampuffco). Sissy, thank you for letting me work with you guys, I had a great time and can't wait to show you the rest of your beautiful girl's images!

I am not really a big fan of the cold, wet snow. But of course I had to venture out into it to take some family pictures. We didn't last long because water was dripping down from the trees as the snow had began to melt. My husband tried to build a snowman but the odds were against him. The snow was too soft to pack, plus the pup kept trying to eat it!

Oh, how I love fat little babies! Especially ones with lots of beautiful curly hair and a great personality. This little guy had his Cake Smash session for his 1st birthday last week. I think he was more interested in the frosting than the cake itself.

{Cake smash shoots are a little different than my normal sessions, which are usually done outdoors on location. They are conducted pretty similar to a newborn session. I come to your home and we set up a "mini studio". We can also schedule time in my in-home studio if that would better suite your needs. We went downtown the other day to shoot Kiara's "urban" portraits. This little girl is really going places! She knows just how to pose herself, and has perfected her adorable little pouty face. I recommend her parents place her in modeling asap!

We have a new nephew! Sweet baby Luke was born this week, and of course we had to make a trip down to the beach to see him. And of course, bring the camera and get some great shots!

Isn't she precious? This little girl was already a few weeks old when I did her portraits, so some of the usual newborn poses didn't quite work. But we were still able to get some adorable images for Mom and Dad. Here is a sneak peek from her session to tide the parents over until the proofs are ready!

And we couldn't leave out the pup! He was so curious as to what was going on! Don't worry little buddy, we didn't forget about you:

I don't have any children yet, but I do have a baby. A furry baby with four legs. And here he is - he is just so sweet when he wants to be!

This was a very special session for me. Dallas contacted me about doing a session with her husband. Anthony is in the Army, and is currently deployed. We scheduled their session to take place during his two week leave from duty. They are such a beautiful couple! Thank you to Anthony, and Dallas, for what you do and sacrifice for our country!

These are the children of my very best friend. She always tells me how lucky she is to have a photographer for a best friend, otherwise she would never have the time to have the kids' portraits done. And no wonder - she has FOUR! I can't imagine how I will get along with just one when the time comes! Triston is 13, Kiara is 5, Keegan is 3, and Braylen is 9 months. And they are all sweet as pie!

I was so excited when Dana's book arrived the other day...it was GORGEOUS! Of course, it helps to have a gorgeous subject too! Here is a spread from her book, as well as a few peeks at the actual book. I love how the pages lay flat, and the colors are so rich you need to see it in person to fully appreciate it! Dana chose a classy black leather cover, but these books come in tons of different colors, and can even be done in a custom photo cover!

Don't forget to ask about creating a book from your own session's images. Prices start at $100 for an 8x8 book, which includes custom design!

I am not a wedding photog, but I just had to take some pics at my friend Pam's wedding! She was so beautiful! Her photographer did not do un-posed non-traditional shots, so she ok'd it with them for me to take a few. I also shot her getting ready since the photog didn't cover that either. It was fun, but I know I want to stick to kids and families! Whew!
